I’ve been an intervention specialist first in a self contained classroom and now collaboratively in general education K-2 for almost 20 years. I love this article so much and want to thank you for writing it. It is so important for educators and parents to have an open relationship and collaborate together to meet their child’s needs. Giving parents the confidence to communicate with their teacher is so helpful. You know your child best! We are here to help and allow your child to be the most successful they can be.

Yes it can be hard to advocate for our children. As we advocate for them we’re showing that they are worthy of advocacy. What a beautiful thing to teach. They’ll grow to advocate for themselves and create environments everywhere they go that welcome difference and variety. We’re changing the world one little corner at a time.
