Try this emotional regulation strategy to see if it's a fit for your toolkit

Hi guys.

Today, I'm going to share with you an emotional regulation strategy called shaking.

Shaking is exactly what it sounds like. We're basically shaking our bodies to interrupt a thought pattern that we want to shift. This is a really great one to use when we're feeling activated.

When we’re feeling:

  • anxious

  • mad

  • overwhelmed

What we know about the nervous system is

We want to go in the direction of the feeling. If we're feeling activated and we have this pent up energy, going in the direction of that energy and channeling it in a productive way to release it really helps us get back to a regulated space.
